Welcome to the 3rd International Particle Minibeam Radiotherapy (PMBT) Workshop!
We are thrilled to invite you to the 3rd International PMBT Workshop, taking place in London from
17 to 19 March 2025. This exciting event represents a key moment in the advancement of Particle Minibeam Radiotherapy (PMBT), an emerging technique that holds great potential to transform cancer treatment.
About PMBT
Particle Minibeam Radiotherapy is an innovative approach that sets itself apart from traditional proton or ion therapies by spatially fractionating the particle beam into smaller "minibeams." These sub-beams, separated by narrow gaps, aim to deliver highly targeted treatment to cancer cells while significantly reducing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. PMBT offers the promise of more precise, less toxic therapies for cancer patients.
The WorkshopBuilding on the success of our previous workshops, this event will be a vital platform for pushing PMBT research forward, fostering collaborations, and accelerating its path towards clinical use. Hosted by the
National Physical Laboratory (NPL)—the UK's National Metrology Institute—this workshop is uniquely positioned to leverage NPL's vast experience in setting international standards for cutting-edge radiation therapy techniques.
As a sister event to the
Proton Physics Research and Implementation Group (PPRIG) Workshop, held immediately after the PMBT event on 20 and 21 March 2025, this dual-format programme offers enhanced opportunities for knowledge exchange and partnerships.
What to ExpectThe workshop will focus on sharing the latest research and exploring the challenges and solutions required to bring PMBT into clinical practice. Alongside scientific sessions, there will be opportunities for discussion and debate, including a special session dedicated to
early career scientists, giving them the chance to present their work and engage with the broader community. We will also be hosting
social events, including a
welcome reception at the historic Bushy House, and a
conference dinner at a local restaurant in Teddington, providing plenty of opportunities for informal networking.
Sister Workshop
The 7th
Proton Physics Research and Implementation Group (PPRIG) Workshop will take place on
20 and 21 March 2025, directly following the PMBT event. PPRIG focuses on translating research into clinical practice, making it the perfect complement to the PMBT Workshop. Further information about the PPRIG event will be available on the
event website.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to
London for this pivotal event. Join us in shaping the future of radiation therapy as we work together to accelerate the clinical implementation of Particle Minibeam Radiotherapy.
We hope to see you there!
